After finally saying that it's seen better days and seriously having had enough of red and black plaid for a lifetime, the couch, the dog's couch that is, was humanely disposed of yesterday. Okay, it's still outside by Chateau Quack waiting for the wind to die down so it can be cremated, then buried with Hope's ashes in the pet cemetary. It was, of course, really her couch. It had lived to the ripe ol'age of 40 years young. We adopted it from David's parents 20 years go. Hey, Ethan Allen furniture was built to last back then! Unfortunately, there is now limited seating, particularly for the dogs whom seem to think that they have first rights to the chairs. Boy was Bug put out yesterday, she even attempted to oust her sister from the chair. On the other hand, the 1/2 Dozen and their mother found it to be the most enjoyable addition to the yard. We found 3 nylabones, several pens, a check from 2006 and about two dollars in assorted change in it too!
Space is now available for the Christmas tree to go up in two weeks. After that, the love seat will arrive. The plaid chair is getting slip covered and the painting will commence in the living and dining rooms.
Later gators....

Glad we got to say our official good byes to the plaid couch before it's cremated! LOL
awww.. good bye couch. Hey, I just discovered I have one of Russ's daughters!
Glad to meet you!!! You have a Musie x Ruffles child? Might I ask?....did you get a mouth along with it:) heehee We were just remarking this morning about the ability of RUffles to pass on his mouth to the kids. The, now, 1/2 dozen spent the morning outside telling the world just how much fun barking at ducks is. ugh...
Dwarf Dog...Do you have one of my Ruffles and Music puppies? I love to keep track of where the pups are and how they are doing.
Cindy, I am reasonably sure I will not recognize the living room with the couch. I spent a night on that couch one fateful night with Grandpa Fred.
That couch has seen many a sleep over! Fred is actually very put out that it's not there. The super fluffy fake fur throws on the floor just are not the same, or so he says.
Welcome DwarfDog! :)
